Nuru Holdings LLC ("Nuru", "we", "us") makes this website and the apps listed on it, including Slide Thru, El Sabor, Rootstock, Baraza and Rooted 360, on the web and in the Apple App Store and Google Play. This page explains what we collect, why, who helps us, and how to delete it. Questions: info@builtbynuru.com.

The short version

• We collect only what it takes to log you in and know which apps you've paid for.
• No ads and no analytics trackers. No tracking you across other apps or websites. We don't sell or rent your information.
• Payments go through Stripe and Link. We never see or store your card number.
• You can delete your account anytime from inside the app.

Your Nuru account

One Nuru account works on all our paid apps. When you use it, we keep:

• Your email address, to send login codes and important account messages (for example, a trial ending or a payment problem).
• When you joined and last logged in, a member ID, and your login sessions (a log-in cookie on your device that lasts 60 days and renews while you keep using the app), so you stay logged in on your devices. We store sessions and login codes scrambled (hashed), not as readable text. Login codes expire after 10 minutes.
• Which apps you have and their status (free trial, member, canceled, purchased, refunded), with dates, and Stripe's customer and subscription numbers for you.
• Short-term counters tied to your email or internet address, to stop people from guessing login codes or flooding inboxes.

Payments

Memberships and purchases are handled by Stripe. Purchases are sold through Link, Stripe's checkout service, which is the seller of record and handles sales tax. Stripe and Link collect your card details and billing information under their own privacy policies (Stripe, Link). They tell us whether a payment or subscription went through. We never receive your full card number.

What stays on your phone or computer

• Things you save in an app, like your weekend plan, saved events or DJs in Slide Thru, or your progress in El Sabor, Rootstock and Baraza, are kept in that app on your device.
• Your health information in Rooted 360 never leaves your device. Visit notes, questions, blood pressure and other numbers, medicines, health history and recovery check-ins are saved only in Rooted 360 on your phone or computer. We don't receive, see, store or sell any of it. If you download or share a visit summary, you choose where it goes.
• Reminders in the phone apps (Slide Thru event reminders, daily reminders, and Rooted 360's day-before visit reminders) are scheduled by your phone, not sent from our servers. We don't receive them.
• Microphone, El Sabor only. El Sabor's recorders ("Record my response" in the lessons and "Record my voice" in the Learning Lab) use your microphone only after you tap Record and allow it. The recording stays on your device so you can play it back and compare. We never receive it: it isn't uploaded or put in your progress backups, and it's cleared when you leave the page. If you save or share a recording, you choose where it goes.
• Speaking practice on the El Sabor website. The "Speak Spanish" button in Sentence Builder uses your web browser's own speech recognition. Some browsers, such as Chrome, send that audio to the company that makes the browser (for example Google) to turn it into text, under that company's privacy policy. We never receive the audio or the words. This button isn't in the El Sabor phone app, and typing your answer works everywhere.
• Location, Slide Thru's Near you only. Slide Thru asks for your location only when you tap "Use my location". It's used on your device to find the events closest to you, and it's saved only on your device so the list stays sorted. It is never sent to us or anyone else. Tap "Clear", or turn off location for Slide Thru in your phone or browser settings, to stop it. If you type a ZIP code instead, only that ZIP code is sent to Zippopotam.us, a free ZIP code service, to find the town's center.
• Otherwise, our apps don't use your location. None of them use your contacts or camera, and we never receive your photos.

Things you send us

If you submit an event, nominate a team or email us, we keep what you send so we can review it, publish approved listings and reply to you.

Slide Thru: events you submit are sent to and stored on our servers and reviewed before they're published. Published listings are public. The event form doesn't ask for your name or contact details.

Services that help us run the apps

• Cloudflare hosts our websites and apps, stores account data, and sends login emails. Like any host, it processes technical information such as internet addresses and request logs to deliver and protect the service.
• Stripe and Link handle payments, as described above.
• Google Fonts: some app pages load fonts from Google, which receives your internet address when the font loads.
• Zippopotam.us: when you type a ZIP code in Slide Thru's Near you, only that ZIP code is sent to this free ZIP code service to find the town's center. Like any website, it also sees your internet address.
• Apple and Google deliver the phone apps through their stores and share basic statistics with us, such as installs and crash reports, under their own privacy policies.

We share information only with these services, to run the apps, or when the law requires it.

Deleting your account

In any of our paid apps, go to Account → Delete my account, or open the delete-account page of the app you use (for example slidethru.builtbynuru.com/delete-account). Deleting removes your login, sessions, memberships and purchase records with us on every Nuru app, cancels a running membership so you aren't charged again, and clears what that app saved on that device. You can also email info@builtbynuru.com from the email on your account and we'll delete it for you. Stripe and Link keep their own payment records, such as receipts and tax records, as the law requires.

How long we keep things

We keep your account information until you delete your account. Login codes last 10 minutes. Anti-abuse counters tied to your email or internet address reset within an hour. Hosting logs are kept for a short time by Cloudflare.

Children

Our paid apps are not made for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them. If you think a child gave us information, email us and we'll delete it.

This website

builtbynuru.com itself has no ads, analytics trackers, contact forms or cookies. Its fonts and images are served with the site.

Changes

If we change this page in a way that matters, we'll update the date at the top and, for big changes, email account holders.
